New Work Entrepreneurship
Possibilities
- Design and produce a “kit” of small machines and tools that would enable someone to make a generator, preferably from re-cycled materials.
- Design and produce a “kit” of small machines and tools that would enable someone to make a pump, preferably from recycled materials.
- Design and produce a “kit” of small machines and tools that would enable someone to make pipes, and hoses, and faucets, preferably from recycled materials.
- Design and produce a “kit” that would enable someone to make bricks, preferably also water-resistant roof tiles, from clay, or possibly other local materials. (Gravel, dirt, sand.) The bricks should conform to the “mortar-less” design, since cement is expensive.
- Design and produce a “kit” that would enable someone to make a gas-stove for cooking. (Natural gas, or biogas transported in bottles.)
- Design and produce a small, mobile factory, or Hyper-high-tech workshop that would enable someone to make a variety of products out of collected and recycled glass or plastic.
- Design and produce a small, mobile factory or Hyper-high-tech workshop that would enable someone to make a Water-Filter or Compostable Toilet.
- Design and produce a “kit” or a small, mobile factory that would enable someone to make insulating materials for roofs and walls out of local materials.
- Design software and write programs – also software for people who are barely literate, software for the new Post-Industrial Products – their design, their manufacturing, to explain and sell them, etc. also computer programs that support the search for what people “really want” to do, as well as programs that assist not only in the search but in actually performing that work.
- Musicians, painters, choreographers, video artists, graphic designers, and more - the ascent to the Post Industrial World needs a great deal of music of many different kinds, it needs a host of new videos and films, new symbols, new images, a new conception of forms, (in furniture, for example, but by no means only there); a new architecture, new ideas of how the best of the urban (the cosmopolitan) can be combined with the best of now dying village and rural life.
- Develop any one of the great numbers of Post Industrial products on which we are working, a few steps further beyond the stage we have reached. E.g. the Generator Kit, the new small refrigerator, the alternative to cement, Vertical Agriculture, the Stirling Engine, Machines for making building materials from clay, etc.
- Education about the many ways in which one can build Buckminster Fuller Domes - among other things we are looking for the set of parts that can be most easily built from re-cycled materials - aluminum – that can be manufactured with a fabricator, that allow for the greatest variety of forms made from identical components. Become expert in the construction of various forms of Buckminster Fuller’s domes, and who would explore this with one eye on the use of these domes as Community Centers, and with the other eye on the Post-Industrial Production of these domes.
- Describe the possible next five steps the further development of laptop computers and mobile phones.
- Focus on how various products need to be re-designed if they are to be produced in a Post-Industrial manner. This would also be a question of style. What designs would fit and be desired in the Post Industrial culture?
- Develop ideas of what the required education and training specifically for Post-
- Focus on the self-manufacturing of toiletries and cosmetics. There are masses of “recipes” for how to do this on the Web.
- Work on the very desired and much cheaper alternative to our current mobile phones. How could the currently existing walkie-talkie be improved? How could the distance that it reaches be increased? How could its appearance be improved? The number of channels made more numerous?
- Develop ideas for how the multiple components that make up the infrastructure for vertical agriculture could be manufactured in a Post-Industrial way.
- Assist in the development and the Post-Industrial Production of electrical generators.
- Study possible alternatives to cement. e.g. compressed gravel and earth. Add the technology of “mortar-less” bricks and blocks to our efforts to develop the self-building of one’s living space as a realistic and practical alternative.
- Participate in one of the several Post-Industrial Automobile projects that we have begun.
- Examine and survey and make accessible the many inventions made by refugees in camps, e.g. ways of making stoves from gravel and earth and countless others.

"I have tried to evolve an organically integrated set of policy proposals that would have the power not only to stop the appalling deterioration of our country – her accelerating descent into a pit of cynicism, passivity, violence and despair – but that, instead, would define a step by step process leading us back to the path of our original mission: to becoming the greatest force on the globe in the struggle for a more humane, a more intelligent and a more life-giving culture."
